Why don’t we stay at home?

Snow-covered trees and a white winter landscape – these are more than good reasons to head outdoors. A winter hike is a one-day tour done in icy or snowy conditions on easy trails. The tour can lead over either mountainous or flat terrain. Winter hikers generally use trails that have been cleared. The snow on them will be no deeper than ankle-high, so hikers don’t need snowshoes or mini-crampons to complete their tours.

“Winter hikes are something very special. You rarely run into anyone, and the natural sights you see are simply amazing. When I think about the footwear I need, comfort is naturally a priority. But the height of the upper and the lining material are also very important. When I set off on a hike through the snow, I’ll need a higher upper with an insulating lining. But if I’ll just be hiking through the woods, all I need is a normal MID-CUT boot with a waterproof GORE-TEX membrane.”

    • Insulation
LOWA winter shoes are outfitted with insulation made of GORE-TEX warm lining or PrimaLoft®.

    • Comfortable
Comfortable footwear is essential for long distances covered on foot. This is why LOWA places such a high priority on exact fit, something that is perfectly designed to handle short or long strolls.

    • Stability
To ensure sufficient grip during hikes, both the sole and the upper should be stable.

GORE-TEX Guaranteed weather protection

Guaranteed weather protection, even in pouring rain and heavy snow: The NABUCCO GTX is equipped with a GORE-TEX membrane. The innovative technology delivers optimal waterproof protection and breathability.

  • Permanently waterproof
The membrane provides reliable waterproof protection. No matter what sort of adventure you may be planning, you can count on GORE-TEX technology to keep your feet pleasantly dry.

  • High breathability
Designed with optimal breathability in mind, GORE-TEX shoes provide pleasant comfort even during intense activities. Water cannot penetrate the footwear, and moisture produced inside the shoe escapes through billions of pores in the GORE-TEX membrane.

  • Windproof

LOWA x GORE-TEX – Nature Clean-Up

Nature provides us with all sorts of unique opportunities to experience unforgettable adventures and enjoy very special moments. More and more people are making a conscious decision to get back in tune with nature. But the decision by more and more people to get back in tune with nature also results in a greater and greater impact on the environment. You hear words like “awareness” and “mindfulness” a lot in discussions about this trend – but what exactly do people mean when they use them? An example: The practise of taking your trash home with you after a tour now comes second nature to many people. Such steps, no matter how tiny they may seem, can be the key to a mindful and sustainable outdoor lifestyle. But if you look around outdoors, you will certainly see many places that certainly have room for improvement.

SINGLE INJECTION The bond between the sole and upper

The NABUCCO GTX is footwear onto which the outsole has been directly injected. This manufacturing technique creates an exceptionally precise and very strong bond between the sole and upper.

  • Lightweight
This process uses a plastic called polyurethane. It is a very lightweight foam padding.

  • Cushioning
The plastic called polyurethane is a foam padding that has very good cushioning properties. The plastic retains its form and springs back to its original condition even when its millions of tiny bubbles are frequently pressed together. This, in turn, creates a good rebound effect.

  • A wide range of design options
Thanks to direct injection, the sole can be designed in a very large number of ways. The multifaceted properties of the materials used enable the shoes to be effective in a broad number of areas.

LOWA DynaPU® Noticeable cushioning puts a spring in your step

The midsole is the leading contributor to the footwear’s rolling properties and cushioning. In the NABUCCO GTX, this midsole is made of a specially developed plastic: LOWA DynaPU®. The special feature: It retains its restoring force even when it’s pressed together thousands of times. As a result, the finished boots will maintain their exceptional cushioning properties even after you have walked many kilometres in them.

  • Good comfort
The special material development is characterised by good cushioning properties. As a result, walking comfort and rolling properties have been noticeably increased – even during long hikes.
