Especially in skyrunning – in other words, vertical mountain running – where sometimes only a few seconds can make the difference between victory and defeat. The new CITUX Ws offers the optimal combination of features for achieving success. The grippy rubber outsole provides optimal traction. The combination with the CLOSE-TO-THE-GROUND technology makes the shoe particularly responsive, while its low weight increases flexibility. Direct energy return and the carbon-reinforced BI-Density midsole guarantee the best control possible. The new LOWA® TRAC® sole system ensures quick responsiveness and optimal push-off. The carbon reinforcement integrated into the sole minimises energy loss and inhibits sharp objects from penetrating the sole. For optimal protection, the upper is reinforced with the laminated REPTEX® SPORT PU coating which makes the shoe much more durable. A light-weight, seamlessly engineered tongue provides a unique combination of comfort and breathability. The amount of padding is reduced to a minimum to ensure the best breathability possible.

Aggressive lugs provide a claw-like grip on a variety of surfaces combined with a sticky rubber for extra grip. Bidirectional lugs enable both: quick acceleration and responsive braking.

WOMEN LAST Adapted to the anatomy of women’s feet

To ensure perfect fit, the lasts used for CITUX Ws have been specially designed with the anatomy of women’s feet in mind. The last plays a key role in the ultimate fit of a boot. Women’s feet have less volume than men’s feet. As a result, the instep height and the ball area of these lasts have been altered.

LOWA x GORE-TEX – Nature Clean-Up

Nature provides us with all sorts of unique opportunities to experience unforgettable adventures and enjoy very special moments. More and more people are making a conscious decision to get back in tune with nature. But the decision by more and more people to get back in tune with nature also results in a greater and greater impact on the environment. You hear words like “awareness” and “mindfulness” a lot in discussions about this trend – but what exactly do people mean when they use them? An example: The practise of taking your trash home with you after a tour now comes second nature to many people. Such steps, no matter how tiny they may seem, can be the key to a mindful and sustainable outdoor lifestyle. But if you look around outdoors, you will certainly see many places that certainly have room for improvement.

CLOSE TO THE GROUND For direct contact with the ground

People who venture across Alpine terrain face many challenges. Fields of loose rocks, rocky outcrops and rough terrain place the highest demands on footwear. For this reason, LOWA uses the technologies of CLOSE TO THE GROUND in the CITUX Ws to create a good feel on the surface. The sole is designed in such a way that the distance to the ground is kept to a bare minimum. The height minimisation throughout the entire shoe creates a natural feel during challenging tours and provides stable footing on uneven terrain.

The acronym “EVA” stands for “ethylene-vinyl acetate”. It corresponds to an elastomeric polymer that is used to make plastic materials. The EVA material creates soft and flexible qualities. It is primarily used in the production of shoe and shoe midsoles to provide step cushioning. Various degrees of rigidity can be achieved on the basis of the thickness employed.

Mesh is a material that consists of many evenly spaced holes. It is usually made of polyester or nylon and basically a lattice-like material that is created by interwoven threads. Thanks to its special design, the man-made fibre is particularly permeable to air, has special moisture-regulating qualities and is easy to care for, breathable and crease-resistant.

Polyurethane (PU)

Polyurethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has very good cushioning properties and is usually used in the midsole as a result. Through the use of PU, the soles become lightweight and functionally flexible.

Upper material

Our synthetic fabrics made of such plastics as nylon, polyester, polypropylene and elastane (Lycra) are primarily used as design elements and protection for the upper due to their abrasion resistance and tear strength.
